Australian singer songwriter Andrea Soler grew up immersed in the Chanson tradition of French Folk music in a bohemian family of Spanish and French descent. Her music evokes the tradition of the troubadour with a beguiling joie de vivre taking the listener on a journey through the realms of indie folk, jazz, roots and world music. Described by Michael Smith (Drum Media) as “Gentle, Caressing, Evocative and Bell-like”, Andrea’s voice has a tone often described as ‘beautiful wild honey’.
She wins hearts wherever she goes and has also won some awards, taking out ‘Female Vocals’ and ‘World Music’ categories at The 2010 North Coast Music Industry Awards in Australia. Happily based in the lush sub-tropical rainforest of Northern NSW, Andrea is regularly is on the road touring throughout Australia.
It’s an exciting few months for this Northern Rivers songbird. Andrea is not only getting ready to launch her latest single ‘Daydreamer’ here in Australia at the beginning of June, but she is also about to set off on a three month tour throughout the UK and Europe. She will be performing on the UK festival circuit including Sunrise, A Lost Weekend, and Larmer Tree Festival, and is also venturing to new territories – Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and also returning to her musical roots in Paris.
Since the release of Andrea’s debut album ‘Earth On An Axis’ she has become a festival sweetheart. Her band of gypsies have performed at last year’s renowned Woodford Folk Festival, Dorrigo Folk Festival, Mullum Music Festival to name a few, and has also won them ABC North Coast Artist of The Week, and more recently became a 2012 Music Oz Awards Finalist.
Not only is she a passionate performer on stage, Andrea is venturing into another area of the music industry that she loves and is teaming up with her guitarist James Ross and her husband Grant O’Brien to make a grass roots documentary about her tour. “I want to capture our tour overseas in such a way that we can then inspire and inform other independent musicians on how to manage, promote and book a tour internationally”.
